Users have the option to pin various screens throughout the app, like Agent Details, for quick access.
PA Hub on mobile handsets takes advantage of the panoramic scrolling to feature hot tasks and account updates.
In the early stages, we put words around each Concept Model to define differences and pull out various features of the OS to take advantage of.
State Farm® Pocket Agent® for Windows 8
State Farm had already delivered an elegant account management application for Android and iPhone users - but as Windows8 launched in late 2012, we pinpointed an opportunity to grow the account management capabilities by extending it to a touch-first platform.
THE ASK:
Translate the existing State Farm Pocket Agent application to the new Windows 8 OS - a responsive, device agnostic, authentically digital, and fast and fluid experience designed specifically for touch.
THE RESEARCH:
We dove into learning about this new platform by becoming expert users. We read the UX guidelines, we downloaded apps, and we learned by touch. One overarching truth was quickly uncovered: In Windows 8, one of the basic principles of the OS is content over chrome. This necessitates the elevation of only the most important content, and allows the user to quickly and easily interact with it, deep diving by progressive reveal. This guiding principle became one of the pillars of our app design - Content is King.
THE SOLUTION:
Our final concept, Springboard, is an action-oriented model and a dynamic experience that prioritizes action for the user. Notifications bring this concept to life, as Springboard elevates important tasks through proactive calls to action, dropping the user directly into performing Hot Tasks.
Application map, conceptual models, interaction flows, detailed wireframes, and Wire Flows were all created to ultimately produce a 175+ page Interaction Design spec document detailing hundreds of key frames of the app as deployed on both slate and mobile.
